The Destination Center will serve the seven coalfield counties of Southwest Virginia. Named for the nearby confluence of the Clinch, Powell, and Big Sandy watersheds, the Three Rivers Destination Center (“Destination Center”) will be a multipurpose facility designed to propel Southwest Virginia’s tourism and outdoor recreation economy to new heights. The Center will fulfill several valuable roles as the Heart of Appalachia Tourism Authority’s (HOA’s) headquarters, a visitor center for regional amenities and for the Clinch River State Park, and as an ecology discovery center. The Three Rivers Destination Center has been a long time in the making: After years of extensive collaboration, planning, and fundraising, the groundwork has been laid, and the project team is now working to bring the Center to fruition.
Dialogue + Design Associates provides the architectural services, project management, construction administration, and facilitation services to the project team that includes the Heart of Appalachia, Russell County administration, St. Paul Main Street, and Breaks Interstate State Park. D+D was selected for its ability to navigate the complex grant funding sources and reinvigorate the design process.
